GREGORY L. HILLYER is a Registered Patent Attorney licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania and Florida. Mr. Hillyer is Board Certified in Intellectual Property and has litigated a wide variety of cases throughout the country, in both federal and state courts, involving patent, trademark, trade dress, copyright, trade secret and false advertising. Mr. Hillyer's experience in the field of patent law is particularly extensive and includes procurement, litigation, counseling, due diligence, freedom to operate, patentability studies, opinion work and serving as a patent expert.

Mr. Hillyer began his legal career as a Patent Agent for the DuPont Pharmaceuticals Company where he was responsible for drafting and prosecuting foreign and domestic patent applications. He later joined Philadelphia's largest intellectual property law firm, first as a Patent Agent and Scientific Advisor, and later as an Associate Attorney focusing on prosecution and litigation. Prior to establishing practices in Maryland and Florida, Mr. Hillyer developed his courtroom skills as an Assistant Public Defender for the County of Philadelphia.

Mr. Hillyer attended the James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University, where he graduated with honors and earned the Barrister's Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy. During law school, Mr. Hillyer was a member of Temple's National Trial Team and a finalist in the National Trial Competition for which he was awarded the Lewis Powell Medallion from the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Hillyer is also the recipient of the Most Promising Litigator Award from the Center for Forensic Economic Studies, the Murray Love Award for Advocacy from the Pennsylvania Association of Trial Lawyers and the Trial Lawyer's Prize from the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Following graduation, Mr. Hillyer continued his involvement with Temple's trial advocacy program by serving as an Adjunct Professor and coach of the National Trial Team.

Mr. Hillyer is also an accomplished chemist. Before practicing law, Mr. Hillyer worked as a synthetic organic chemist for DuPont Merck Research Laboratories, where he authored several papers on the synthesis of cardiovascular drug candidates. Mr. Hillyer also served as an Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at Wingate University. Mr. Hillyer holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the State University of New York and a Master of Science Degree from the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a full scholarship and teaching fellowship. Mr. Hillyer received the Safford Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Instruction from the University of Pittsburgh.
