JAMES A. STEPAN has experience in the areas of commercial litigation, trademark, trade secret litigation, civil RICO, appeals, non-compete and non-disclosure agreements, copyright, products liability and employment discrimination. Mr. Stepan has appeared in both State and Federal court actions.
Mr. Stepan received his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida College of Law in 1999. While attending the University of Florida, Mr. Stepan was a teaching fellow in legal research and writing and appellate advocacy. He was also a two term officer of the Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Board.
Mr. Stepan is conversant in French.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
- Multiple jury and bench trials, evidentiary injunction hearings,the taking and defending of depositions, and argument at hearings.
- Significant case management experience, from inception of the case until ultimate resolution, as well as client contact and communications.
- Considerable experience in researching and drafting legal memoranda, including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment.
- Research and drafting of appellate briefs on multiple occasions.
- Responsibility for all aspects of discovery, including preparingand responding to discovery requests, coordinating and supervising document production, and discovery motion practice.
- Participation in multiple mediations and settlement conferences.
- Notable cases include an order of no liability in a complex, three month federal trial involving claims for civil RICO and misappropriation of trade secrets and obtaining an order striking defenses and finding liability for discovery misconduct in federal court.
