SUSAN J. LATHAM focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation, particularly in the areas of trademark, trade dress, copyright, false advertising, unfair competition, trade secret, and entertainment. Ms. Latham has experience litigating in many jurisdictions across the nation and across a wide variety of subject areas. Ms. Latham has handled intellectual property issues arising in many different industries such as aviation, cosmetics, fashion show production, finance, fragrances, hair care, hotels and resorts, music production, online sports fantasy teams, restaurants, screenwriting and film, sports beverages, television, test preparation and wine. For example, Ms. Latham's efforts on behalf of a defendant have been successful in obtaining an early dismissal of a trade dress infringement matter relating to the design of certain motorcycle accessories.

Ms. Latham also has experience handling appeals. For example, Ms. Latham successfully put her trademark and anti-counterfeiting experience to work in obtaining oral argument before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals regarding trademark counterfeiting claims within the resort services industry, which then led to settlement.

Ms. Latham began her career in finance, as a stockbroker, but has always had a passion for Intellectual Property law and the creative arts. Consequently, after graduating from Florida State University College of Law, she attended the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City where she earned a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property law and received the award for Distinguished Performance and the Charles Ballon Writing award. While pursuing her Masters of Laws, Ms. Latham worked for the fashion company Kate Spade. LLC, where she gained substantial experience in anti-counterfeiting issues.

When she is not litigating, Ms. Latham enjoys writing articles about intellectual property issues. Ms. Latham's articles have been published in well-respected journals and trade publications, as well as being cited by a federal appellate court.
