SUSAN MARSILLO focuses her practice in intellectual property law and, in particular, trademark matters.  She has represented clients relative to the continued maintenance and prosecution of domestic and international trademarks throughout the world and has been involved in managing large U.S. and international trademark portfolios, reviewing comprehensive search reports and counseling clients on trademark selection in the U.S. and international markets.  She has prepared U.S. trademark applications and other documents relative to new applications and registered marks and has been involved in opposition and cancellation actions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.  Ms. Marsillo has also drafted and reviewed mutual co-existence agreements, assignments, licenses and settlements, and has retained and managed international local counsel.

Prior to focusing on intellectual property law, Ms. Marsillo was Assistant General Counsel at a local health maintenance organization in Miami, where she counseled all departments on a variety of healthcare, corporate, compliance and other legal matters.  Ms. Marsillo has also counseled clients on a wide variety of other matters, including:  franchise agreements and Uniform Franchise Offering Circulars and she has been involved in civil litigation in state and federal court relative to commercial and construction matters, property/casualty insurance and admiralty/maritime defense.

Ms. Marsillo received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was a member and Editor of the Entertainment & Sports Law Review.  While attending law school, Ms. Marsillo clerked for the Honorable Amy Steele Donner of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court for Miami-Dade County, Florida.  Ms. Marsillo received her Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University, where she was the recipient of the Research and Writing Award for a paper entitled, John Marshall and the Founding of the American Judicial System and was a recipient of an Arts and Science scholarship.
